Brood

in collaboration with Annette Barbier and Nancy Gaziano

Annette Barbier and Niki Nolin share a fascination with birds that is made manifest in their recent bodies of work.  Where Nolin and Gaziano use imagery of birds, eggs, nests, and cages as icon and metaphor, Barbier references the threatened, fragile existence of birds as their destinies entwine ever more tightly with that of the human race. The work showcased in Brood explores the bird both as archetype of our most private selves and as a microcosm of the complex fate of the natural world.
